ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 24 /PRNewswire/ — Avineon, Inc. (www.avineon.com), a successful provider of IT, geospatial, engineering and program management services, today announced it has been awarded a task order under the Software Engineering Specialized Scientific Support (SES3) blanket purchase agreement (BPA) with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) Office of Research and Development (ORD). Avineon’s mission is to provide the agency with software definition, design and development support for various ORD laboratory, center and office software applications. The task order has an initial one-year base period with an additional one-year option.

Under the contract, Avineon will implement standard, formal processes for ensuring the optimal development and performance of the ORD’s systems and application portfolio. The company will be instrumental in the implementation of industry best practices to reduce the time required to deliver new solutions and strengthen service delivery. Avineon, independently assessed at Capability Maturity Model(R) Integration (CMMI) Maturity Level 3, will apply its streamlined and structured processes to reduce development costs, expedite the completion of projects and minimize risks involved in large, complex projects. Avineon will also provide regular review of processes and procedures throughout the term of the contract.

“Our breadth of experience in working with federal agencies and driving process improvement initiatives suits us well for this project with the EPA,” stated Tim Brewster, Environmental Account Manager at Avineon. “We look forward to working with the agency to increase efficiencies within the ORD by providing high-level, effective solutions and enhanced IT support.”

Leveraging its expertise in the environmental IT field, Avineon’s environmental practice group focuses on delivering innovative IT solutions to federal customers dealing with issues related to the environment. In addition to its work with the EPA, Avineon maintains additional environmental contracts, including the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD), where the company supports analysis and documentation of the location and type of vegetation habitats within the Everglades.

Added Brewster, “As we continue to expand our customer base, our environmental practice group will allow us to further utilize our experience and credibility within environmental IT. The establishment of this practice group serves as a testament to our strong background providing top-quality IT solutions and support for various environmental projects and positions us for further growth in the sector.”
