NASA awards rotorcraft technology contract
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration says three U.S. companies will share a $40 million subsonic rotary wing technology development contract.
NASA said the companies are Bell Helicopter Textron Inc. of Hurst, Texas; The Boeing Co. of Chicago; and the Sikorsky Aircraft Corp. of Stratford, Conn.
The cost plus fixed fee, indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract with a five-year period of performance became effective Wednesday.
The space agency said the three companies will provide research and development support, including advanced rotorcraft technologies, research flight testing, wind tunnel test stands, hardware gear testing components and advanced cockpit and crew station research.
