Registration Opens for Nation's Premier Solar Photovoltaic Conference

Former CIA Director Confirmed as Keynote Speaker for PV America

Conference and Trade Show in Philadelphia with Focus on Important Emerging Regional Market

WASHINGTON, March 6 /PRNewswire/ -- The Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) today opened registration for the PV America Conference, its first conference dedicated solely to the growing solar photovoltaic (PV) industry. The conference takes place June 8- June 10, 2009 in Philadelphia at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. Philadelphia is at the heart of the fast-emerging Mid-Atlantic PV market.

PV America comes at a pivotal time for the industry. The /American Recovery and Reinvestment Act/ included 19 provisions that impact the solar industry. These policies will be implemented over the next few months. PV America gives solar entrepreneurs the premier opportunity to learn how these provisions will allow them to expand their business and create new green-collar jobs.

Renewable energy advocate and former Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Director James Woolsey will give one of the keynote addresses at PV America. In recent years, Woolsey has become a strong advocate for renewable energy, linking the seamless issues of renewable energy production with national security, job creation, and global warming solutions. Woolsey has served as U.S. Ambassador to the Negotiation on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe (CFE), Vienna, 1989-1991; Under Secretary of the Navy, 1977-1979; and General Counsel to the U.S. Senate Committee on Armed Services, 1970-73. He was also appointed by President Reagan as Delegate at Large to the U.S.-Soviet Strategic Arms Reduction Talks (START) and Nuclear and Space Arms Talks (NST), and served in that capacity on a part-time basis in Geneva, 1983-1986.

SEIA, its Mid-Atlantic chapter (MSEIA), and IEEE have joined forces to present the preeminent PV-focused industry conference and trade show in the United States. Programming from the premier technical PV conference is paired with SEIA's policy and market development expertise to give the most current updates on PV technology, industry trends and business opportunities. All proceeds of the event go toward advocacy work to advance policy and expand the U.S. solar industry market.
