Grains higher Monday

March 16, 2009

Grains closed higher on the Chicago Board of Trade supported by a four-day lift in stock prices that ended Monday with modest declines.

Corn was up 3 to up 3 1/2, soybeans were up 27 3/4 to up 34 1/2, wheat was up 25 1/2 to up 26 and oats were up 2 1/2.

Corn prices rose, although export inspections were down sharply from a week ago. Wheat prices gained with a weaker dollar and slightly lower than anticipated export figures. Soybeans prices rose as the February crush of 128.7 million bushes was higher than expectations.
