US EPA Honors American DG Energy for Carbon Emissions Reductions

March 18, 2009

WALTHAM, Mass., March 18 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ – American DG Energy Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: ADGE), a leading On-Site Utility, offering clean electricity, heat, hot water and cooling solutions to healthcare, hospitality, housing and athletic facilities, was honored by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Combined Heat and Power (CHP) Partnership for the carbon emissions reductions of the Company’s CHP projects. This is the third year in a row that the Company has been recognized for emissions reductions.

“CHP plays an important role in meeting the United States’ energy needs, as well as in reducing the environmental impact of power generation,” says Kathleen Hogan, Director of EPA’s Climate Protection Partnerships Division. “By installing a CHP system designed to meet the thermal and electrical demands of a facility, American DG Energy has helped many customers increase their facilities’ operational efficiency and decrease their energy costs, while reducing the emission of greenhouse gases.”

American DG Energy, a member of the CHP Partnership, was presented with a certificate by the EPA in recognition of the Company’s contribution to “efficient domestic energy production.” Through 2008, the high efficiency of the Company’s CHP projects, reported to the EPA, produced an estimated 9,000 metric tons of carbon equivalents less than typical separate heat and power, resulting in annual carbon emissions reductions equivalent to 2,311 acres of forest storing carbon for one year or the emissions of 1,861 passenger vehicles.

As an example, a 75 kW CHP system, operated by American DG Energy, running at 100% capacity could supply offsets up to 432 tons of carbon dioxide gas each year, the equivalent of planting 118 acres of trees or eliminating the emissions of 74 cars. Over the lifetime of a typical agreement a single system could offset up to 6,480 tons of carbon dioxide gas, the equivalent of planting 1,770 acres of trees or eliminating the emissions of 1,110 cars.
