Schools Positioned to Earn New Source of Revenue by Saving Electricity
CPower was selected to provide demand response services following a cooperative bidding process by the MRESC's Regional Energy Services Co-Op, where they evaluated providers, based on their program offerings, support services and reimbursement rate. Under the terms of the agreement, participating schools have committed to curtail at least 150 kilowatts (kW) of electricity upon request, thereby reducing stress on the grid during periods of peak demand and decreasing the need for utility providers to generate additional power. In exchange for their participation, the districts' boards of education will receive payments for their schools' contributions.
"Given today's economic climate, it's more important than ever for schools to find innovative ways to cut costs without cutting corners," said
