New Jersey American Water engineers introduce technological advances for water utility industry at state conference for waterworks professionals
New Jersey American Water, a wholly owned subsidiary of American Water, is one of the only water utility companies in the nation with a research and development unit staffed by experienced scientists and engineers dedicated to finding solutions to challenges in the industry.
Highlights from the New Jersey American Water presentations include:
Russell Titus , operations supervisor: "Meter Reading and Leak Detection: A New Synergy." Titus will explain how Advanced Meter Infrastructure (AMI) can better measure water consumption and acoustically monitor leaks in pipes before they break.Dana Wright , senior engineering project manager: "Bypass Surgery on PCCP Transmission Mains." Wright andMichal Altland , from Hatch Mott MacDonald, will detail how utilities can work on a line by shutting it down, while using a bypass so as not to disrupt service to customers.Mark Khodash , planning engineer: "Distribution Maps from a GIS: Collaborative Feedback." Khodash will illustrate how GPS technology will enable New Jersey American Water to shorten repair time when a pipe leak occurs.
