The nation's highest ranking retired military leaders issued a report in 2007 that concluded climate change is a "threat multiplier", and that energy security, climate change and national security are a related set of global challenges. We cannot solve one without addressing all three. Passing a low carbon fuel standard without an indirect land use provision is tantamount to shutting down the nascent industry of the low carbon intensity fuels we need to solve this problem. Let's implement policies and standards that fully leverage emerging biofuel technology in order to create a win-win-win for national, energy and climate security. The LCFS and iLUC do just that.
