PRESS RELEASE: Secure Energy Announces Arrival of Siemens Gasifiers

DECATUR, Ill., March 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Secure Energy announces today that Siemens Energy, Inc., has delivered two 500-MW thermal gasifiers, two feeder vessels, associated proprietary equipment and spare parts to the Secure Energy Decatur Gasification Plant. These are the first Siemens Gasifiers to be delivered to North America.

The Siemens Gasifiers are the heart of the process that will convert 1.4 million tons/year of Illinois coal to 21 billion cubic feet of pipeline quality synthetic natural gas. About the Secure Energy Decatur Gasification Plant:

The Secure Energy Decatur Gasification Plant will convert coal to pipeline quality synthetic natural gas. It will be located at an existing industrial site in Decatur, Illinois. The projected plant construction cost is estimated to be $800 million and will employ approximately 86 full time employees. Secure Energy estimates that 330 union construction jobs will be required to construct the plant over a 29 month period. Additionally, Secure Energy estimates that the plant will create 140 new coal mining jobs and 90 new trucking jobs in the Decatur area.
