Three-day event takes place in Somerset April 3, 4, and 5

NEWARK, N.J., March 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- You are invited to PSEG GreenFest 2009, New Jersey's premiere event for green initiatives. The three-day environmental expo is being held Friday-Sunday, April 3, 4, and 5 at the Garden State Exhibit Center in Somerset.

GreenFest will showcase practical steps all of us can take on the path to a green future. It features state and national environmental leaders who will share ideas about how families and businesses can reduce New Jersey's carbon footprint and work toward a more sustainable earth.

The event boasts some 100 green exhibits, interactive entertainment, demonstrations, and programs for adults and children.

"Our society faces the urgent need for action on climate change," said Ralph Izzo, PSEG's chairman, president and CEO. "We hope GreenFest will encourage dialogue and action on these vital environmental issues, because we all need to do our part to protect our planet for future generations."

PSEG GreenFest 2009 has something for everyone -- from eco-friendly products and energy-saving tips and technologies for homes and businesses to a science circus, a children's environmental oasis, virtual wildlife tours, and fun activities for kids and the whole family.

There will be workshops galore -- on how businesses can launch green initiatives to save energy and money, for high school students on food and the environment, and for educators to take back to their classrooms. Other workshops will explore investing in clean and green technologies, no cost and low cost methods for going green, and organic gardening.

Among the celebrities appearing at GreenFest are:

• Actor and activist Ed Begley, Jr., an environmental leader in the Hollywood community who lives in a self-sufficient home powered by solar energy;
• Bill Nye- 'The Science Guy,' stand-up comic, inventor, writer and producer whose shows on Comedy Central and PBS have won 28 Emmy Awards;
• Zoologists Martin and Chris Kratt of PBS's Zoboomafoo, the Emmy award-winning children's program; and.
• Actress and environmental activist Daryl Hannah, who has featured her green home and organic garden ideas on CNN and Good Morning America.

Also on display will be a hybrid bucket truck and bucket trucks powered by electric drive units, part of the PSE&G's efforts to green its vehicle fleet.
