Operational Review
The Company has diligently worked on ADEPT development and marketing while also focusing on its long-term projects with other strategic customers. Mikros has made steady advances in a number of ongoing projects, including:
- ADEPT - Mikros has completed all logistics requirements for fleet insertion and is completing a review of the calibration plans for ADEPT within the Navy Metrology program. Development and testing of the ADEPT software and interfaces are on-going, with a final release scheduled for August 2009. Mikros engineers recently completed a comprehensive security review of the ADEPT interfaces to Navy shipboard networks culminating in permission to attach ADEPT to secure networks aboard selected Navy ships for the fleet exercise, Trident Warrior 2009. We will demonstrate the Distance Support capabilities of the system during this important Navy experiment. At this time, the Navy plans to install at least 2 ADEPT units on each Aegis Cruiser and Destroyer. As a result, Mikros is anticipating an Indefinite-Delivery, Indefinite-Quantity (IDIQ) contract award in 2009. This will facilitate ADEPT procurement, life-cycle support, and additional development for Aegis ships and other radar and electronic systems. Mikros' business development team is actively marketing ADEPT capabilities to Navy managers for the Littoral Combat ship, Aegis international programs, and other radars and electronic systems, such as the AN/SPS-49, AN/SPQ-9B, AN/SPS-74, and AN/SLQ-32. Mikros is also beginning to uncover promising markets for ADEPT in support of radar and complex electronic systems found in the U.S. Army and Air Force. - WIRELESS PROGRAMS - Mikros engineers continue development on the Network Vulnerability to Electronic Attack (NVEA) application for Naval Air Warfare Center, Weapons Division (NAWCWD), located in China Lake, CA. The technical objective of this project is to develop simulation models that can be used to predict the performance of data links in a jamming environment. Mikros continues to drive development of the AIRchitect-EMC tool developed for wireless planning in shipboard environments. This development is supported by Intellicheck-Mobilisa, the Company's partner and subcontractor in the effort. Mikros recently received an updated version of the software and will be using this new version for ongoing wireless planning of new Navy aircraft carriers. Mikros has also partnered with LM Ericsson to market mobile cellular systems to the government market. The Company is jointly pursuing applications for this technology with the U.S. Marine Corps and National Guard with the objective of generating future contract awards for systems integration and logistics work. - AUTONOMOUS POWER BUOYS - As part of the option for our Phase I Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) effort sponsored by the Navy's Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR), Mikros recently submitted additional analysis discussing the feasibility of small autonomous buoys capable of generating power from ocean waves. The Company foresees additional interest in this technology by the Navy undersea warfare community and is preparing to submit a response to anticipated Phase II SBIR requests.Financial Review
