PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla., March 31 /PRNewswire/ -- Wackenhut Services, Incorporated (WSI) is pleased to announce that Alliant Tech Systems Incorporated (ATK) has selected WSI for award of their Nationwide Protective Services Contract. This contract provides security, fire and emergency services, and janitorial support for the ATK Armament Systems, ATK Mission Systems, and ATK Space Systems. WSI is proud to be protecting more than 17,000 ATK employees at 16 locations to include Government-Owned/Contractor-Operated (GOCO) facilities, private installations, and ATK's Corporate Office in Eden Prairie, Minnesota.

ATK, a leading provider of advanced weapon and space systems was launched as an independent company in 1990, when Honeywell spun off its defense businesses to shareholders. The former Honeywell businesses had supplied defense products and systems to the U.S. and its allies for 50 years, including the first electronic autopilot that enabled B-17 aircraft to accomplish pinpoint bombing missions during World War II.

WSI always worked closely with ATK in the past and is pleased to continue to support the company, its mission, and personnel.

"ATK is relying on Wackenhut's reputation, leadership, and professionalism to ensure a smooth transition and implementation of this service agreement," said ATK Contracting Officer Stephen Mayo during contract award.

WSI is the United States government's largest contractor for professional security services, with 10,000+ employees protecting key sites in the U.S. and abroad. For additional information about WSI and this issue, please visit www.wsihq.com
