SunKids convertible cribs recalled

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of SunKids convertible cribs due to entrapment and suffocation hazards.

The cribs, imported by Suntech Enterprises Inc. of City of Commerce, Calif., include mesh sides that can leave a gap between the crib's side and the mattress, creating an area that could trap and suffocate a young child, the commission said in a statement.

About 1,900 of the cribs were sold in New York, New Jersey and California for about $100 each from January 2007-October 2008.

The cribs, imported from China, have SunKids embroidered on the bottom left corner of the crib's drop side.

Consumers were advised to stop using the cribs immediately and return them to the store for a full refund. Consumers can call 888-268-8139 for information.
