NASA extends safety and mission contract

The U.S. space agency says it has exercised a $58 million, one-year extension option for a contract with the Science Applications International Corp.

The contract requires the Houston company to provide support for safety and mission assurance activities at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration's Johnson Space Center in Houston, the Kennedy Space Center in Florida and the White Sands Test Facility in New Mexico.

The cost-plus-award-fee contract option continues services through April 30, 2010.
