UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa., April 14 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — The roller coaster ride of fuel prices and the 9/11 terrorist attacks prove that transportation is not only a vital segment of our economy, it’s increasingly the most vulnerable.

Chris Lofgren, President and CEO of Schneider National, Inc., and Chris Sultemeier, senior vice president of transportation for Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., will be among the logistics and transportation experts addressing transportation challenges and solutions at the 19th annual R. Hadly Waters Supply Chain symposium held at the Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel in State College April 22 and 23.

Bob Novack, associate professor at Penn State’s Smeal College of Business and an organizer of the symposium, said people attending the symposium are introduced to a range of presentations and best practices that they may have the opportunity to implement in their own organizations.

“The Waters Symposium offers supply chain professionals the opportunity to attend practitioner presentations, across industries and across supply chain members, on a specific theme that is of special importance in the supply chain,” Novack said. “Attendees are exposed to best practices in supply chain management in an environment that encourages open discussions on how to solve today’s supply chain challenges.”

Other Industry experts will focus on topics such as, the implications of rising fuel prices, the global capacity crunch, risk and security and onshoring.
