Project Learning Tree and Esurance Announce Recipients of GreenWorks! Environmental Grants

Begun in 1992, GreenWorks! Grants give students a chance to apply classroom learning to community projects, in conjunction with environmental education training and materials that PLT provides to teachers through professional development workshops. Esurance has partnered with PLT since 2007 to bring these grants to schools in communities near their local offices.
The recipients of the GreenWorks! Esurance Grants were chosen based on several factors, including their location in underserved areas, high level of engagement with the community, and student leadership of the program. Schools and youth groups chosen for these GreenWorks! Grants are located near

The 2009 projects will be completed within the next year and are as follows:
- Lowry Elementary School: Victory Garden Veggie-Share Project
- Peakview Elementary School: Rock Hopper Garden and Nature Discovery Stations
- HandsOn Greater Phoenix: Garden Renew Project with Glendale YMCA Evening Detention Center
- Orangevale Open K-8 School: Schoolyard Habitat consisting of a nature trail, seasonal wetland, and native landscape
