Take Your Child to Work Day at New Jersey American Water is an exciting educational experience for children of employees

CHERRY HILL, N.J., April 16 /PRNewswire/ -- For approximately 300 children of New Jersey American Water employees, Take Your Child to Work Day on April 23 will be a much more rewarding experience than just learning to use a copier or fighting to stay awake in one of mom's or dad's meetings. Kids will play games, test their knowledge, and build models all while learning much about the water utility industry.

Dozens of employees at New Jersey American Water's 12 treatment plants and operations centers will host their children, ranging from ages 8 to 18 during Take Your Child to Work Day. The day is part of a national effort to expose young people to careers and to emphasize the value of education.

At New Jersey American Water's Delran Water Treatment Plant, children will tour the facility and learn how water is drawn from the Delaware River, cleansed and delivered to their taps at home. Other scheduled activities will include a water ball toss, a game of "Water Jeopardy," a model water tank building contest, a scavenger hunt, and ice cream from Mr. Softee.

"Take Your Child to Work Day combines work, family time, fun, and education and that makes it one of the most satisfying events here at New Jersey American Water," said John Bigelow, president of New Jersey American Water. "We stress the importance of hard work and education to our kids daily. Take Your Child to Work Day offers them a glimpse of what rewarding careers await them if they dedicate themselves in the classroom."
