Toy maracas recalled
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of Shape-O toy maracas due to choking and suffocation hazards.
The maracas can break open, spilling small parts that could present a choking hazard, the commission said in a statement. In addition, the handles of the maracas pose a suffocation hazard, the statement said.
About 44,000 of the maracas, imported from China by Tupperware U.S. Inc. of Orlando, Fla., were sold between September 2007 and April 2998 for between $5.50 and $11.
Consumers were advised to return the maracas to Tupperware for a full refund.
