Senseo One-Cup Coffeemakers recalled
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of Senseo One-Cup Coffeemakers due to a burn hazard.
An electrical fault and calcium build up in the coffeemakers can cause the boiler to burst, creating a danger to consumers.
There have been no reports of burns in the United States, but 17 reported incidents in Europe include six reported injuries, including first degree burns, the commission said.
About 255,000 coffeemakers were made in China and Poland for Philips Consumer Lifestyle of Stamford, Conn. They were sold through Wal-Mart, Target and Safeway stores between July 2006 and March 2009 for between $60 and $140.
Consumers were advised to stop using the recalled coffeemakers and contact Philips for instructions on receiving a replacement.
