The Tower Companies Announce 4REarth E-Cycling Day

ROCKVILLE, Md., April 21 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — On Earth Day, April 22, 2009, The Tower Companies joins forces with Computer CORE, Multi Media Training Institute and E-Structors as part of their 4REarth E-Cycling Day to help reduce their tenants carbon footprint by collecting and recycling all working and non-working electronic equipment that is being discarded in all of the company’s seven commercial office buildings located in the Washington Metro area. This effort includes The Millennium Building@1909 K Street, 1828 L Street, 1707 L Street, 1133 19th Street, The Tower Building, 8300 Colesville Road and 2000 Tower Oaks Boulevard, totaling approximately 1.5 million square feet.

The Tower Companies are asking tenants and their employees to voluntarily set aside working and non-working electronic equipment such as computers, monitors, fax machines, printers, scanners and copiers. Participating partners will pick up working electronic items in each of the buildings on Thursday, April 23, and on Friday, April 24th for non-working equipment. Tower has partnered with CarbonFund.org to offset their office buildings’ carbon footprints.

Last weekend, The Tower Companies offset 3 metric tons of carbon emissions when they partnered with 20 other organizations for the Recycling Day Festival@The Blairs, their 1,400 residential and mixed-use complex in Silver Spring, Maryland. The community-wide event garnered recycling donations of furniture, clothing, small appliances, bicycles, computer electronics, and cell phones which were collected on-site @The Blairs by participating sponsors from Children’s National Medical Center, Battery Solution, Goodwill of Greater Washington, DC, First Time Computers, Habitat for Humanity Restore, Lions Club, Montgomery County Recycling and Waste Management, Purple Heart, Shepherd’s Table and Bikes for the World, among others.

The Tower Companies 4REarth E-Cycling Day and Recycling Day Festival@The Blairs is part of the company’s overall corporate strategy to promote environmental stewardship.
