Court says FedEx drivers are independent

The court determined that the company had provided clear evidence that FedEx Ground contractors are properly classified as independent contractors, company spokesman Maury Lane said, the Memphis Commercial Appeal reported Wednesday.
as well as the parties' intent expressed in the contract.
The Teamsters union, which tried to organize contracted drivers in Massachusetts has been trying to have FedEx drivers declared as company employees, the Commercial Appeal said.
