AirTest offers energy saving garage system design services

Posted on: Thursday, 23 April 2009, 10:38 CDT

DELTA, BC, April 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ - AirTest Technologies (TSXV: AAT) announced today that it is offering a design service for its Parking Garage Ventilation Control System that makes it easy for contractors, building owners or engineers to determine energy savings and payback feasibility. The services include creation of a complete specification and scope of work that can be used to have local contractors bid on the installation of AirTest's unique ventilation and control system. AirTest will also interface with local utilities to makes sure maximum rebates are obtained.

AirTest's sensor-based, demand controlled garage ventilation system can typically reduce energy costs by 90% and kW demand by 80% in enclosed parking garages. Using this approach the AirTest system modulates code-required ventilation rates to reflect actual vehicle activity in the garage. According to George Graham, President of AirTest, "Based on the results of eight recent installations in Los Angeles we have found we can provide an average savings of 635 kWh per parking space. This represents an annual savings of $95 per space." Graham added "Paybacks typically are in the 1 to 3 year range and can amount to tens of thousands of dollars per year in savings for a medium to large size garage."

Using our design service, AirTest works with the customer through the complete installation process including: initial feasibility assessment, data collection, development of a budget and scope of work, selecting local installation expertise, commissioning and maintaining the system and applying for utility rebates. If desired, AirTest can also provide assistance in verifying and monitoring ongoing energy savings. "Our design services leverage all the advantages of the internet to interact with customers anywhere in the world," said Mike Schell, VP of Business Development, "For example we are currently working on a number of projects in South East Asia."

The first step in the process involves a feasibility analysis where some simple information is collected on the existing garage. Based on this data Airtest can provide an estimate of cost, energy savings, and payback on the capital cost of the installation. When a customer decides to proceed, a detailed plan and budget is developed. AirTest then works with the customer to guide the installation and commissioning of the system.

Customers can email (sales@airtest.com) or call AirTest's toll free number to start the process. (1-888-855-8880).
