PHILADELPHIA and MENLO PARK, Calif., April 27 /PRNewswire/ — Element Partners, a leading growth equity firm specializing in clean technology, has hired Sujit Banerjee as Operating Partner. Banerjee was previously a Partner at BlueRun Ventures, where he founded the firm’s cleantech practice and India office and will continue as an Operating Partner with BRV in mobile and consumer investments.

Banerjee brings over nine years of venture capital investment experience to Element. At BlueRun, his dual interests in cleantech and India led to a co-investment with Element in Deeya Energy, where he established the company’s go-to-market strategy in India, leveraging a technology developed at NASA. In addition, Banerjee led another Element co-investment in Petra Solar, a leading renewable energy systems company. His other investments include SliceX, CyOptics, MagSil, NexPlanar, and Sasken (BSE: SASKEN).

Prior to BlueRun, Banerjee was a Principal with TL Ventures, where he led investments in pre-IPO companies Atrenta and Sonics. Previously, he worked as an investment banker with Merrill Lynch, a management consultant in the semiconductor industry, and an engineer with Synoptics Communications.

“Most of the partners at Element have had more than a 10-year relationship with Sujit, going back to his days at TL Ventures, and we are thrilled that his growing commitment and experience in cleantech have led to this opportunity. We want to thank the partners at BRV for facilitating this mutually-beneficial relationship between our firms, and we expect great things to come out of our partnership with Sujit,” said Element Managing Partner David Lincoln.
