Launched Monday, the "H2Open for Business" campaign -- featured at www.h2openforbusiness.com -- is trumpeting the Dayton Region's water supply advantage in an era where global water scarcity is a growing concern. The full press conference is available online.

"The Dayton Region has it all: a proven track record of business development infrastructure, logistics and workforce talent on top of a 1.5 trillion gallon aquifer," said John Landess, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Dayton Development Coalition. "The 'H2Open for Business' campaign is spreading the word to the global business community that when you Get Midwest, we really do think of everything -- water supply included."

While drought conditions worldwide are impacting industries in need of reliable, heavy water supply -- particularly advanced manufacturing applications -- the Dayton Region has more water than it can use. The Dayton Region has more than 6,000 miles of rivers and streams to recharge a vast, 1.5 trillion gallon buried valley aquifer, that is capable of generating yields in excess of 2,000 gallons of water per minute.

The 12-county Dayton Region also boasts a skilled labor force, logistical access to Interstates 70 and 75 and three international airports within 60 minutes, and world-class lifestyle opportunities. The region is especially strong in business development within the industry clusters of Aerospace Research and Development, Information Technology, Advanced Materials and Advanced Manufacturing, and Human Sciences and Healthcare.

"The Dayton Region is the complete package -- from research and development to logistics, from commercialization channels to an excess, quality water supply," said Jim Leftwich, President and CEO of the Dayton Development Coalition. "Our goal with this campaign is to inform companies that are heavy water users that while much of the country is facing water shortages, the Dayton Region is H2Open for Business and we have your business development solutions."
