Piedmont Natural Gas Opens Conservation and Energy Efficiency Programs to Customers in North Carolina

CHARLOTTE, N.C., April 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Piedmont Natural Gas (NYSE: PNY) has begun implementing its recently approved conservation and energy efficiency programs to North Carolina customers with the posting of program details, eligibility requirements, contractor listings and rebate forms on its website, www.piedmontng.com. The programs are designed to encourage conservation and energy efficiency among Piedmont's residential and commercial customers in North Carolina.

Program offerings include equipment rebates of up to $300 per qualifying appliance for the purchase of high-efficiency natural gas equipment, weatherization assistance of up to $3,500 for low-income residential customers of Piedmont Natural Gas, and weatherization assistance of up to $15,000 for non-profit commercial customers of Piedmont Natural Gas. Piedmont will begin communicating rebate program availability and details to its North Carolina customers through bill inserts sent out with customers' May bills.

Piedmont's Senior Vice President for Commercial Operations, Frank Yoho, commented on the new programs, "Piedmont is pleased to be able to offer these new programs to our residential and commercial customers in North Carolina. We believe they will provide an important level of support for customers who might otherwise find it difficult to enhance the energy efficiency of their homes or businesses by installing various energy efficiency measures or by purchasing high efficiency natural gas equipment to replace older, less efficient natural gas equipment. At the same time, we continue to work with regulators in the other states in which we serve customers to create similar opportunities."

Annual funding for all programs is limited and the availability of weatherization assistance for qualifying customers is further subject to contractor availability.
