WASHINGTON, May 4 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Representatives of power providers and utility commissioners will outline the potential effect on consumers and businesses of congressional efforts to reduce greenhouse gases, promote clean energy and set a renewable energy standard at a National Press Club Newsmakers press conference at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 7, in the Zenger Room, 13th floor, 529 14th St. NW, Washington, D.C.

These groups will be challenged by pending legislation on climate change and energy reform. Although many people have promoted the market and environmental benefits of a national renewable energy standard, some communities and businesses could be harmed.

Participants will include Progress Energy CEO Bill Johnson and Darryl Basset, a former Arkansas Public Utility Commissioner.
