Request for Qualification issued this week
As part of its rate case filed in February with the Oklahoma Corporation Commission, OG&E proposed a project that would establish Norman as a Positive Energy Community featuring widespread installation of smart meters and a 2,000-customer energy portal demonstration project.
The Commission is expected to decide this summer whether OG&E can recover the cost of the proposed program. With Commission approval, the program would be implemented beginning in summer 2010.
The request for qualification will provide preliminary information to potential suppliers about the program and will allow OG&E to create a list of pre-qualified suppliers who will be invited to participate in a request for proposal, which will be issued later this summer.
Products and services the company is seeking include
- Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) systems
- Supporting communication services
- Meter Data Management Systems
- Meter Event Managers/Operational Data Stores
- Demand Response and Distributed Generation Management Systems
- Smart Meters
- Home Area Network (HAN) equipment including in-home displays, programmable communicating thermostats, load control equipment, HAN-related energy program management services and HAN communication systems
- Web-based customer portals for energy management services
Anyone interested in the request for qualifications can find more information at OG&E's SmartPower RFQual Web page, http://www.oge.com/smartpowerrfp/
