Santa Barbara Summit on Energy Efficiency to Webcast Town Hall Meeting With Kleiner Perkins, Lawrence Berkeley National Lab, and United Technologies

May 21 Event Will Allow Global Audience to Participate Virtually

SANTA BARBARA, Calif., May 13 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The UC Santa Barbara Institute for Energy Efficiency announced today that it will offer a live Webcast of the town hall meeting event at its inaugural Santa Barbara Summit on Energy Efficiency, May 20-21. Taking place at 11:00 a.m. PDT (2:00 p.m. EDT) on Thursday, May 21, the 75-minute interactive panel discussion -- Policy and Technology: Conflict or Synergy? -- will feature Randy Komisar, partner at Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers; Arun Majumdar, director of the Environmental Energy Technologies Division at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory; and J. Michael McQuade, senior vice president for science and technology at United Technologies.

The town hall -- to be Webcast live at http://iee.ucsb.edu/sbsee -- will be moderated by Forrest Sawyer, Emmy Award-winning former ABC, NBC and MSNBC news anchor. Sawyer, the panelists, and the audience will explore the relationship between the development of new energy efficiency technologies and governmental policies that inhibit or accelerate their adoption. The Institute invites stakeholders from around the globe to submit questions for the panelists in advance of the event at whitney@iee.ucsb.edu. For the questions selected, Sawyer will read the submitters' names, affiliations, and locations.

The Santa Barbara Summit on Energy Efficiency is bringing together leaders from industry, government and academia to address progress in energy efficiency technologies, commercialization and policy. The technology sessions will delve into the five energy efficiency areas that are the focuses of the Institute's technology solution groups: lighting, building and design, production and storage, computing, and electronics and photonics.
