Orinda Academy Summer School to Offer Ecology of the San Francisco Bay Area, an Advanced Biology and Field Ecology Course

ORINDA, Calif., May 13 /PRNewswire/ — Orinda Academy’s summer school will offer Ecology of the San Francisco Bay Area, Advanced Biology and Field Ecology course, a UC approved college prep lab science class. Students will learn about all major Bay Area ecosystems to understand the biology, ecology and conservation opportunities in the region. Classes will consist of lectures, laboratory exercises and field activities including local natural history, population ecology, community ecology, ecosystem ecology, conservation biology, plant and wildlife ecology and phylogeny, and environmental history.
The prerequisite is that students should have completed introductory biology at the 9th, 10th or 11th grade levels.
Jae Pasari, a former instructor at Berkeley City College and UC Santa Cruz, will teach the class. Pasari holds an MS in Environmental Studies from UC Santa Cruz and a BS in Molecular Environmental Biology from UC Berkeley. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. at UC Santa Cruz studying the ecology of invasive species.
The class will be held at Orinda Academy at 19 Altarinda Road, Orinda, CA. The school is close to Orinda BART.
The class will be held Monday through Friday, June 22 through July 14 and July 16 through August 7 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
