Eddie Bauer play yards recalled
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of Eddie Bauer play yards with rocking bassets due to a suffocation hazard.
When secured with straps, the rocking bassinets can lodge in a tilted position, causing an infant to roll to the downward side, possibly ending up wedged in the corner, presenting a hazard of suffocation, the commission said in a statement.
About 71,000 of the play yards were sold in the United States, while 5,600 were sold in Canada. The play yards, imported from China, sold for about $150 each between January 2008 and May 2009 at various national outlets.
Consumers were advised to immediately stop using the attached bassinets and contact distributor Dorel Juvenile Group Inc. of Columbus, Ind., for a free $40 company voucher.
Consumers were advised they could continue using the play yard.
