Using only nine drops of Super Glue, Henkel Corporation’s Loctite brand successfully lifted a full-size Ford pickup truck, with a compact car in its bed, and suspended it in the air for an hour, meeting the world-record requirement. The overall weight of the vehicles was 5.02 tons — nearly one ton more than the previous record.

The record-setting Loctite Super Glue liquid is available to consumers at retail locations nationwide. It provides strong, fast and reliable bonding solutions for everyday use on a broad variety of materials. Loctite also offers other adhesive products including: Loctite Super Glue Gel, with a convenient no-drip feature; and Loctite UltraGel(TM), a rubber-infused super glue for bonds that are even shock- and water-resistant. Next to the classic Super Glue tube, Loctite also developed special applicators that ensure ultimate dose control and keep fingers mess-free (Loctite Super Glue Control(TM)), along with a brush solution for applications on larger surfaces (Loctite Super Glue Brush-On).

“With our product range of Loctite Super Glues, we cover virtually every consumer need,” said Tim Ferguson, North American marketing director, General Adhesives, Henkel Corporation. “Our new Super Glue, UltraGel is even extending the scope of a classic instant adhesive to bonding flexible materials like leather and rubber.”

Like most of the Loctite consumer products, this break-through in the consumer super glue market had originally been developed for industrial use. However, in the development phase, it became obvious that consumers all over the world should be able to utilize the benefits of this new rubber-infused technology.
