Tucson Citizen becomes Internet-only
Gannett Co. said Friday that the company would stop producing the print version of the Tucson Citizen newspaper in Arizona.
MarketWatch reported that the newspaper will become an Internet-only publication after Saturday.
The decision to jettison the print edition comes amid a national decline in newspaper advertising revenue.
The economic climate in Arizona makes it
no longer viable to produce two daily newspapers in Tucson, said Bob Dickey, president of Gannett's U.S. community publishing division.
Hearst Corp. recently announced that the Seattle Post-Intelligencer would become an online publication, MarketWatch reported.
