Tucker Bags Partners With City of Seattle in Major Reusable Grocery Bag Initiative

Tucker Bags to donate 10,000 reusable bags to local food banks

SEATTLE, May 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Tucker Bags is pleased to announce the company has joined a community based partnership with the City of Seattle to promote the use of reusable grocery bags to local retailers and their customers. As part of this key green initiative, Tucker Bags will donate a total of 10,000 reusable grocery bags to local families and under-served communities through NW Harvest, Food LifeLine and other local food banks.

In 2008, NW Harvest spent nearly $16,000 on 500,000 plastic bags at just the Cherry St. Food Bank. By the end of 2009 they aim to reduce that number by half. So for every reusable grocery bag donated, NW Harvest is able to dedicate more funds toward the provision of additional meals for families.
