Statement by ACCCE Regarding the Passage of the American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009

ALEXANDRIA, Va., May 21 /PRNewswire/ -- The House Energy and Commerce Committee passed the American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009 (ACES) out of committee. Parts of the bill are expected to be reviewed by other House committees before heading to the House Floor. In response to the passage of the ACES Act, Steve Miller, CEO and President of the American Coalition for Clean Coal Electricity released the following statement:

"ACCCE's long-standing policy has been to support the timely adoption of effective, affordable carbon management legislation that could include a mandatory cap and trade program. We look forward to working with the members of the House of Representatives during the coming weeks to make additional, vital modifications to the ACES Act so that the legislation ultimately enacted by Congress and signed by the president produces environmental benefits, promotes economic prosperity and advancement of technology, and ensures greater energy independence.
