Posted on: Thursday, 21 May 2009, 20:53 CDT
"ACCCE's long-standing policy has been to support the timely adoption of effective, affordable carbon management legislation that could include a mandatory cap and trade program. We look forward to working with the members of the House of Representatives during the coming weeks to make additional, vital modifications to the ACES Act so that the legislation ultimately enacted by Congress and signed by the president produces environmental benefits, promotes economic prosperity and advancement of technology, and ensures greater energy independence.
"Passage of the American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009 (ACES) tonight by the House Energy and Commerce Committee represents an important milestone in a process that we are optimistic will ultimately lead to effective, affordable federal climate legislation. We want to commend Chairman Waxman, Chairman Markey, Chairman Dingell, and Chairman Boucher for their leadership in making important changes to the discussion draft of this bill."
