Exelon's Renewable Energy Education Center Dedicated

Center offers hands-on learning opportunities for students, community groups about renewable energy sources

FAIRLESS HILLS, Pa., May 28 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Amid children experimenting with hands-on displays about landfill gas technology and solar energy, Exelon (NYSE: EXC) opened its Renewable Energy Education Center at Fairless Hills this morning.

The Center was built to educate students about the use of renewable resources to produce electricity. The Renewable Energy Education Center was opened for school class trips last fall and has hosted more than 500 students from Bucks County schools already. The Center is located in Fairless Hills, Bucks County, near the Pennsylvania Turnpike and Interstate 95.

The Renewable Energy Education Center at Fairless Hills features a curriculum based upon the Pennsylvania Board of Education's Environment and Ecology standards. Geared toward fourth- through eighth-grade students, the Education Center provides an interactive experience for students, giving them the opportunity to see first-hand how energy is produced from renewable resources. The Education Center is available to students of all ages and all community groups that are interested in learning more about green energy.

The Renewable Energy Education Center is a part of a larger initiative, Exelon 2020: A Low Carbon Roadmap, designed to decrease Exelon's carbon footprint. This three-pronged strategy will allow Exelon to meet future energy needs and reduce greenhouse gas emissions as cost-effectively as possible by reducing or offsetting Exelon's carbon footprint by greening our operations; helping our customers and communities reduce their greenhouse gas emissions; and offering more low-carbon electricity in the marketplace.
