DHS Tests Biometric Exit Process in Atlanta

WASHINGTON, May 29 /PRNewswire/ — On Monday, June 1, 2009, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) US-VISIT program and Transportation Security Administration (TSA) will hold a media availability and video/photo opportunity to announce the beginning of a test of biometric exit procedures for international travelers. Media will hear from senior TSA and US-VISIT officials and be able to photograph and video international travelers having their biometrics – fingerprints — collected when they leave the United States from the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. Testing of biometric exit procedures for international travelers began on May 28 at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport.
