Fujitsu Microelectronics to Demonstrate New Graphics Processor, 1394 Automotive Controller, at Telematics Detroit, June 2-3, Booth 53

Exhibit to Feature Benefits of OpenGL ES 2.0 Support with Unified Shader Architecture
The Fujitsu MB86298 "Ruby," a high-performance OpenGL 2.0-compliant 2D/3D graphics display controller (GDC), features unified shaders supporting both vertex- and fragment- shading options. The GDC can drive four independent displays of varying resolution and four independent video-capture inputs. It is also designed to minimize power consumption to a typical rating of under 2.5W, which eliminates the need for heat sinks or active cooling systems. See the news release on the new MB86298 GDC at http://www.fujitsu.com/us/news/pr/fma_20090602-01.html.
Graphics Demonstration Featuring APIX Delivers Multiple Benefits
Fujitsu also will demonstrate its MB86R01 "Jade" system-on-chip graphics processor serving as the master graphics controller and delivering pixel data to the Fujitsu MB88F332 "Indigo" display controller using an Automotive Pixel Link (APIX) channel. The APIX back-channel capability provides bi-directional communications between the cluster panel and the Jade-based control system.
APIX can carry graphic content and command information, and can transport power to the end node. These capabilities enable a reduction in total ECU and cable count - an important objective for automakers. Three different cables can be combined onto a single APIX cable, reducing total cable weight and cost. For example, a system can use LVDS for graphic images, CAN for commands, and a power cable for the end module. Another advantage provided by APIX is the ability to locate the control system away from the crowded, temperature-stressed area under the vehicle's dashboard.
New 1394 Automotive Controller Supports HD Quality Video, Imaging
Fujitsu will also demonstrate the MB88395, the industry's first 1394 Automotive controller that supports HD-quality video and vehicle-navigation imaging using the 1394 standard. The demonstration will feature a three-channel audio and three-channel video system using an MP3 player and DVD player to deliver fully adjustable audio and video to multiple rear-seat displays. The demonstration will use the latest 800Mbps single-chip solution, which features integrated PHY and LINK layers, incorporates Digital Transmission Copy Protection (DTCP), and includes the Fujitsu SmartCODEC for industry-leading compression capabilities.
"The Fujitsu new graphics display controller and 1394 Automotive controller clearly demonstrate our global leadership in next-generation automotive electronics technology," said
