Save on select U.S. lake, river and coastal cruises through Fall 2009; New soft adventure "Sea Lodge" program for Coast of Maine introduced

WARREN, R.I., June 2 /PRNewswire/ -- American Canadian Caribbean Line, Inc. (ACCL), a family-operated small ship niche cruise line popular with active mature travelers, announces 15% -20% savings on select itineraries departing from the U.S. ports of Chicago, IL, USA; Portland, ME, USA; and Warren, Rhode Island, USA, which serves as the cruise line's homeport.

From July 1 through November 7, 2009, passengers can choose from various itineraries featuring coastal exploration of the waterways between Eastern Canada, Lake Michigan and Florida via small ship, including Hudson River, Lake Champlain, Erie Canal, Saguenay River, the Intracoastal Waterway, and coastal Atlantic Ocean. "These enriching itineraries include some of the most historical and scenic parts of America," states Nancy E. Blount, president of ACCL. "Many of the ports of call are only visited by ACCL and usually only accessible by private yacht. Since many travelers are staying closer to home, we cruise from convenient U.S. ports which are accessible by car, train and low-cost air carriers. This offers guests quick access to their vacation compared to traveling abroad to river cruise."

ACCL is offering 20% savings on the following 2009 itineraries: Great American Waterways (July 1 aboard the M/V Grande Mariner, 15-nights). Ports of call: Warren, RI; West Point, NY; Kingston, NY; Troy, NY; Erie Canal; Oswego, NY; Rochester, NY; Buffalo, NY; Cleveland, OH; Wyandotte, MI (Ford Museum); Mackinac Island, MI; Manitowoc, WI; Manistee, MI; and Chicago, IL. ACCL introduces a new program called Sea Lodge Adventures for the August 16 and August 24 Coast of Maine sailings that will offer 'soft adventure' for all skill levels. "We are excited to partner with kayak experts H2Outfitters of Orr's Island, ME to offer a unique 7-day kayak package ($429 additional to cruise fare) that will instruct and guide guests daily along the tranquil harbors and winding estuaries," comments Ms. Blount. "This is a perfect opportunity for anyone who has always wanted to learn to kayak to immerse themselves under the supervision of experts." These sailings will also include complimentary workshops for all guests onboard including culinary, photography, historical lectures, wine tasting, and more. "ACCL recognizes that enrichment programming has become a key part of niche cruising, and we've responded to this need with soft adventure packages for our passengers," Ms. Blount adds.

The select discounted cruises are regularly priced from $1,725 per person, double occupancy (not including port charges, optional tours, gratuities and fuel supplement) and are now priced from $1,380. With these special offers, one can save up to $1,914 per cabin, subject to cruise and cabin category.

In addition to the 15% and 20% discounts, ACCL is extending its "Bring Friends" program allowing extra savings of $500 per cabin if a passenger books two cabins at the same time and at least one cabin's guests are new to the cruise line. This offer is for non-discounted cruises only. Single travelers can enjoy extra savings, too since ACCL is waiving the usual single supplement on select cabins.

Established in 1966, ACCL evolved from the 1950s yachting vacations of Rhode Island family The Blounts, who built many of the ferries and dinner boats operating in several U.S. cities today. For over 40 years, the cruise line has captured the spirit of its original voyages with a nostalgic, informal and casual approach that features many off-the-beaten-path itineraries along the coasts of the U.S., Canada and parts of the Caribbean and Central America.
