Armed Forces Foundation Announces Bold New Initiative to Assist Veterans Through Housing Crisis

WASHINGTON, June 9 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — Today, the Armed Forces Foundation (AFF) announced the launch of a new department to address the need to assist veterans in homeowner trouble. The AFF Department of Homeowner Assistance is tasked with assisting Veterans who are in “distressed situations” with regard to the ownership of personal residences.

As a result of the current crisis in the U.S. housing market, our veterans and active duty service members face many obstacles to home ownership. The AFF recognizes that problems resulting from decreased home values, job transfers (including active duty abroad), job losses, and adjustable rate mortgages are putting a great strain on our men and women in uniform. It is the goal of the AFF to alleviate these strains by providing access to a national network of professional Realtors with decades of experience working alongside lenders in local real estate markets.

Steven Epstein will serve as director of the AFF’s new Department of Homeowner Assistance. He plans to establish and maintain a national network of qualified professionals to handle internet based requests for assistance and refer veterans to certified representatives in their local area. The department will also provide extensive information to veterans on the programs available through the DoD, the government, and state agencies.

Mr. Epstein is currently Chief Technology Officer at Dart Homes, and has a decade of real estate and lending experience under the RE/MAX national brand.
