LaJobi recalls drop side cribs
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of LaJobi cribs due to risk of entrapment and possible suffocation.
About 2,900 Babi Italia Pinehurst and Bonavita Hudson drop-side cribs have lower spring pins on the foot board and headboard of the cribs that could pop out of place, causing the drop side to detach, the commission said in a statement.
An incident of the pins dropping out would then create a dangerous gap between the drop side and the mattress.
The company has received 33 reports of spring pins failing. Two children became trapped in this manner, the commission said.
The cribs were imported from China by LaJobi Inc. of Cranbury, N.J.
The Babi Italia Pinehurst cribs were sold at Babies
R Us outlets, while the Bonavita Hudson cribs were sold at various outlets between December 2006 and December 2007. The cribs sold for about $300.
Consumers were advised to stop using the cribs immediately until LaJobi can send a technician to the home to install a free repair kit.
