Security Officers' Union Approves New Labor Agreement at Lockheed Martin's Fort Worth Plant

FORT WORTH, Texas, June 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Members of the Security, Police and Fire Professionals of America (SPFPA) union, including about 80 security officers at the Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) facility in Fort Worth, have approved a new three-year labor agreement with the company.

The union members approved their agreement in a vote Friday, June 12. The union and company had been negotiating since May.

This is the sixth straight successfully negotiated labor contract at the Fort Worth facility in 2009. Members of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) ratified three-year labor agreements with Lockheed Martin in Fort Worth on April 19, covering three bargaining units. The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) approved an agreement on May 15, and Office and Professional Employees International Union (OPEIU) members approved an agreement May 16.

The Federated Independent Texas Union (FITU), representing manufacturing planners, will negotiate on a new contract with the company in 2010.

Lockheed Martin's Fort Worth plant produces the F-35 Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter, the F-16 Fighting Falcon and a major portion of the F-22 Raptor, in addition to conducting work on other aeronautics manufacturing and research & development projects.

Headquartered in Bethesda, Md., Lockheed Martin is a global security company that employs about 146,000 people worldwide and is principally engaged in the research, design, development, manufacture, integration and sustainment of advanced technology systems, products and services. The corporation reported 2008 sales of $42.7 billion.
