Milestone Coincides with all AirTran 737s Now Wi-Fi Equipped

ORLANDO, Fla., June 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — AirTran Airways, a subsidiary of AirTran Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: AAI), joined Mark Malkoff in celebrating the half-way point in his 30-day adventure of living on-board the Company’s aircraft.

The celebration was commemorated with his first shower in the journey, given by the Bishop International Airport Fire-Rescue squad in Flint, Mich. The milestone also corresponds with the airline’s announcement that all of its Boeing 737 aircraft now have Wi-Fi on-board.

Since beginning his journey on June 1, Malkoff has completed 56 flights, covering 51,673 miles and dozens of tarmacs. He attained A+ Elite status faster than any other passenger in the history of the A+ Rewards Program. Each night, the New York-based filmmaker and writer sleeps on-board AirTran aircraft and each morning welcomes new passengers aboard.

“I can’t believe I’m already halfway through my journey,” said Malkoff. “The time is really flying by thanks to all the people who have been following me at http://www.markonairtran.com and interacting with me online at 35,000.”

“Hosting Mark has been a real adventure. We’ve held our first bingo game at 35,000 feet, we’ve opened service to new destinations together and put him to bed at night. He’s become a real part of the AirTran family,” said Tad Hutcheson, vice president of marketing and sales for AirTran Airways. “Fortunately, we don’t have to entertain him all by ourselves because Mark can stay connected to friends, family and fans through Gogo Inflight Internet.”

Mark has been traveling throughout AirTran’s network, posting videos and updates to http://www.markonairtran.com daily. Mark has also experienced local traditions like racing the famous Brewers/Klements sausages in Milwaukee and has met thousands of passengers along the way.

The airline plans to have Gogo Inflight Internet service on its entire fleet of Boeing jets this Summer. The airline will be the first major carrier with Wi-Fi on each and every flight.
