Make the Most of Bedtime by Focusing on Special Moments With Your Child

Your Family’s Beloved Bedtime Story, Tip or Routine Could Win a Bedroom Makeover for Your Child

NEENAH, Wis., June 15 /PRNewswire/ — Reading a favorite story, tucking in the covers or sharing a quiet moment – these special few minutes between child and parent at bedtime create lifelong memories. But for many parents, nighttime issues – like bedwetting – can get in the way of treasured nighttime rituals and take away from what’s important. In fact, a recent consumer survey(1) revealed that while more than 90 percent of moms understand the importance of sharing a special bedtime routine with their child, almost one third can end up spending that time dealing with nighttime issues instead.

That’s why the Kimberly-Clark GoodNites Brand, the trusted bedtime resource, today launched the “Special Bedtime Moments” contest, giving parents the opportunity to share how they make the most of bedtime with their children. By doing so, parents can help their peers who struggle with bedtime issues put the focus back on what really matters at night.

Through August 14, 2009, parents can visit www.SpecialBedtimeMoments.com to share their bedtime tips, stories, or routines for a chance to win one of two grand prize bedroom makeovers for their child, transforming it into a magical space for cherished moments between child and parent. And, throughout the contest period, one entry each week will be deemed the “Bedtime Moment of the Week” and prominently displayed on the Web site. The weekly winning entrant will also receive $25 toward making her child’s bedroom an inviting retreat.

“I often counsel parents to think about bedtime as an important time to connect with your child, and really focus on the few minutes that count in creating wonderful, lasting memories,” said Dr. Jennifer Trachtenberg, pediatrician and Mom of three. “I’ve partnered with the GoodNites Brand to help parents address nighttime issues with perspective and cherish those bedtime experiences that truly matter.”

The GoodNites Brand Turns On the NiteLite

To help Lighten the Night and provide parents with the sense of reassurance that comes from knowing bedwetting is a condition their child will eventually outgrow, the GoodNites Brand introduces the first-ever NiteLite Panel. Comprised of four parenting and medical experts – including Dr. Trachtenberg; Dr. Roy Benaroch, pediatrician and Dad; Dawn Meehan, Mom of six and author of new parenting book “Because I Said So” (2009); and Meagan Francis, Mom of five and regular contributor to Parenting.com and Parents magazine – the NiteLite Panel provides valuable advice, tips and tools to help parents put bedwetting into perspective. Learn more about and connect with the NiteLite Panel on the newly updated GoodNites.com, a sharing space and resource for parents looking for answers on bedwetting and advice on making bedtime quality time with their child.

“We developed the NiteLite Panel as a way to offer parents clarity, counsel and compassionate support as they experience or go through bedwetting,” said Craig Dunphey, GoodNites Brand senior brand manager. “The NiteLite Panel’s real ‘mom and dad like me’ point of view shines a light on the issue and helps parents to know that bedwetting doesn’t have to get in the way of sharing special moments with their child before bed.”
