BoaterExam Launches Interactive Boater Education Course in Virginia

Successfully completing the online boating safety coursework allows students to meet Virginia Boating Safety Education Requirement

RICHMOND, Va., June 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Virginia is the latest state to launch the new BoaterExam interactive boater education course as an online option to meet Virginia Boating Safety Education Requirement. Now, Virginia residents will have access to an animated and narrated course they can take online when it's convenient for them. This boating education course is approved by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA), recognized by the US Coast Guard and covers 100 percent of the state's exam requirements.

BoaterExam.com course participants learn about boat classifications, hull designs, motors, legal requirements for registration and equipment, navigation rules, basic safety regulations and waterway marking systems all in a narrative fashion with more than 300 original illustrations and 150 animated video clips. Each of the courses' seven chapters is followed by chapter summaries and mandatory quizzes. The study guide is timed and a score of 90% is needed on each Chapter Quiz in order to successfully complete the course. The Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries is gradually phasing-in the mandatory boater education requirement that has been law since 2007. In 2009 all PWC operators 20 years and younger must meet the requirement by July 1, 2009. A new block of boaters will be added each year until July 1, 2016 when all boaters who are not exempt shall meet the requirement.

The BoaterExam.com course and final exam is free: students pay a one-time fee of $29.95 only when they successfully complete the online course to obtain their official results. Once students pass the online course, a Temporary Certificate is issued immediately and the permanent Card arrives by mail in 2-3 weeks. The Card is good for life and never needs to be renewed.
