FreeFlight Systems’ RAD-40 Radar Altimeter Display Granted TSO
The RAD-40 is an easy-to-read, 1/2 3 ATI, panel-mounted digital display which provides the pilot with an accurate readout of aircraft height above ground level. The RAD-40 has a selectable Decision Height (DH) and includes five additional trip points, all with discrete outputs – from 100 to 1000 feet – which can be used to control an audible tone or to interface with third party equipment.
Building on the strengths of the company’s popular TRA-3500 and TRI-40 Radar Altimeter system, the RAD-40 combines with FreeFlight Systems’ TSO certified RA-4000 or RA-4500 Radar Altimeters to provide operators with a fully certified Radar Altimeter system at approximately half the cost of competing systems.
“When flying in degraded weather conditions, pilots find themselves in task-saturated situations, which is why we designed the RAD-40 to be clear, bright, and easy to read with reliable warnings when both decision height and pre-set warning altitudes are met,” states
In addition to the standard version, a Night Vision Goggle (NVG) compatible display is available. For certain installations, a display in a round 3 ATI faceplate adapter is also offered as an option.
The RAD-40 is available immediately at a retail price of
