Posted on: Tuesday, 23 June 2009, 08:31 CDT

Crude oil prices held below $68 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange Tuesday as falling stock values have undermined confidence in the economy.

Crude oil prices gained 37 cents in overnight trading to $67.87 per barrel. Heating oil prices gained 0.0165 cents to $1.744 per gallon. Reformulated blendstock gasoline rose 0.0123 cents to $1.872 per gallon. Natural gas prices gained 0.042 cents to $3.975 per million British thermal units.

At the pump, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline was $2.683 Tuesday, down from Mondays $2.69 a gallon, AAA said.
