And the Return of Daily Nonstops to Ft. Myers

Plus A Tampa Upgrade to Daily Service, From Saturday-Only Flights

FLINT, Mich., June 24 /PRNewswire/ — Bishop International Airport is having a “Florida Bonanza”, with the announcement of the addition of our newest destination, Ft. Lauderdale, on November 4th. Ft. Lauderdale joins the ranks of Orlando, Ft. Myers and Tampa. In honor of our four jet flights on AirTran Airways to Florida, Flint is officially changing the name of the sunshine state to “FOUR-ida.” Tickets are for sale now at airtran.com.

“With non-stop service to more Florida cities than anyone from Flint, the only thing that covers the state better than AirTran Airways is the sunshine itself,” said Tad Hutcheson, vice president of marketing and sales for AirTran Airways.

In addition to Ft. Lauderdale starting in November, Flint’s Saturday-only Tampa flights will be upgraded to daily flights on October 6th, two full months ahead of last year’s seasonal escalation of service. Also, daily flights to Ft. Myers return on November 4th. Orlando, as always, flies daily all year.

Airport Director Jim Rice stated, “It is wonderful news. AirTran Airways bringing back their nonstop to Ft. Lauderdale flight is a testament to their dedication to the economic growth of our region, and of our community’s loyalty to the airline.

Not only is the service to Ft. Lauderdale returning, but having Tampa and Ft. Myers return to daily service, and even earlier than last year, is a sign of great things to come for Bishop International Airport.”
