Synchrony Builds Strong Sales Team to Meet Rising Business Demand

June 25, 2009

More Than Seventy Years of Engineering and Industrial Sales Experience to Lead Sales Force for Magnetic Bearings Industry Leader

ROANOKE, Va., June 25 /PRNewswire/ — Synchrony, an industry leader providing innovative solutions and engineering excellence in rotating machinery and power conversion systems, has assembled a seasoned sales team over the last three months to meet rising demand for magnetic bearings and high-speed motors and generators. Applications of these products are increasing, particularly across industrial, aerospace and defense sectors as traditional oil-lubricated bearings and drive trains are replaced with clean, frictionless magnetic bearings products and direct-drive high-speed drive trains. Synchrony’s world-class product lines, including its Fusion(R) and NovaGlide(TM) magnetic bearings and NovaGen(TM)/NovaDrive(TM) oil-less drive trains, are true design innovations in miniaturization, integration and standardization that set the standard for better, smaller and greener.

To maximize its strong value proposition, Synchrony has hired a team with a collective seventy years of professional engineering and sales leadership in turbomachinery, industrial pumps and large power applications to spearhead sales for the advanced products company. Synchrony’s magnetic products are already deployed in next generation power systems for aerospace and defense as well as drive systems in petrochemical, oil and gas, power generation, HVAC, and industrial gas sectors.

Among Synchrony’s new sales hires is Dennis Mueller, a 34-year veteran specializing in motor and automation sales. In his most recent position as Vice President of Sales at Power & Controls Automation, he grew sales 20% per year. Prior to that, he climbed the sales management ladder at both Siemens Energy & Automation and Reliance Electric. Mueller will focus on sales for Synchrony’s Fusion(R) magnetic bearings for NEMA size motors, industrial pumps, blowers and air compressors.

Omar Jimenez has 10 years of sales experience in turbomachinery for the oil & gas industry. His focus with GE Oil & Gas was in retrofit applications for end-users. He developed opportunities for non-OEM engineered solutions for turbomachinery for clients such as ConocoPhillips, Valero, ExxonMobil, Spectra Energy, and Placid Refining. At Synchrony, Omar’s sales focus will be on downstream applications that are currently using traditional oil bearings.

John Rama is a registered Professional Engineer and award winning sales manager with 28 years of experience applying and selling large low-voltage and medium-voltage motors and VFDs to the oil & gas and water/wastewater markets. As sales manager at Siemens/Robicon – Midwest he was responsible for growing sales, profitability and channel management for a $36MM/yr sales volume. Rama has presented articles to the Turbomachinery Symposium and is a member of the API and IEEE Standards Committees. Rama will focus on the integration of NovaGlide(TM) magnetic bearings into large rotating machinery.

“Despite the troubled economy, we are seeing an increased interest and demand for innovative ways to provide clean, reliable and efficient solutions for high performance rotating machinery,” said Synchrony CEO & President Dr. Victor Iannello. “The design innovations in our products greatly improve the economics of magnetic bearings for many new and existing applications. Our proprietary technology offers advantages across a broad spectrum and will be invaluable for OEMs seeking integrated high performance products. Synchrony’s new sales team is experienced and well suited to meet our projected increases in demand.”
