Cruise line offers free cruise if you beat its price
MIAMI, June 26 /PRNewswire/ — Discovery Cruise Line, which offers cruise service between South Florida and Grand Bahama Island daily except Wednesdays, announced that it is offering to give passengers a free cruise to Grand Bahama Island if they can buy commercial transportation to the destination at a price lower than Discovery’s $99.99 per person roundtrip fare. The $29 per person Bahamian departure and harbour fees and security and CBP user fees, and a $5 per ticket transaction fee, are additional, for a total cost of $133.99 per person.

Hahn, the General Manager of the cruise line, said that, “People are confused by the advertising of low fares that hide all the extras in the small print, or the low fares are simply not available. We want them to know that we have the least expensive transportation to Grand Bahama Island, bar none. In addition, this summer on Discovery kids seventeen and under cruise free, except that surcharges of $34 per person apply to all passengers. The average published price of a seat on an airplane is approximately $270 compared to the cost of the cruise of $133.99 per person, including the extra charges. For a family of four, the savings are considerable because kids sail free on Discovery but have to buy a seat on an airplane. The savings will just about pay for the cost of the land package. And, if someone wants to stay over on the island the cost is only around $30 additional per person per night. Plus, if you show a valid U.S. adult passport or passport card issued in 2009 you receive $20 free in Discovery Dollars.”
