S. Korea’s trade surplus hits record
South Korea’s economic slump helped to sharply cut June imports, producing a record trade surplus of $7.4 billion for the month, the government said Wednesday.
June exports totaled $33 billion, down 11.3 percent from the same month of last year. But that was offset by a 32.3 percent year-on-year fall in imports to $25.6 billion, Yonhap reported quoting the government.
The previous surplus record was $5.7 billion set in April.
